My story begins as an overweight and depressed teenager. I was about to graduate high school giving me an opportunity to start fresh. My older brother challenged me to run the Columbus Half Marathon. Eagerly accepting the challenge I immediately began training. I scoured the internet looking for some guidance. After 9 tough weeks of training, I ran that half marathon and I was hooked, finishing in 1 hour and 35 minutes. Over the past ten years, I dove into the leading research, best selling books, searched out the industry leading mentors, and developed my physiological and psychological expertise. I've earned multiple certifications and earned a masters in Sport Psychology.
Since that first half marathon I have been on the top of podiums, overcome serious injuries, and fought through deployments with the US Army. I have learned what it takes to balance life and sports. I have learned what it takes to overcome a diagnosis of never being able to compete in sports again. I have learned what it takes to reach your goals. I know what sacrifices have to be made and what doesn't need to be sacrificed.
What drives me today is one thing: Legacy. To me, legacy is the measurement of impact you made on other humans during your life. It is a culmination of your service to others. I want my legacy to be made through helping people reach new heights through sports.
